Ease 1hr, Enjoy gallery, 2004
This performance explores the audiences comfort level over time. Ease started with collaborators Campbell Walker and Grace Russell being hogtied on the floor. A loop of a hardcore drumming sequence is playing, (duration 1hr). Then the doors are opened to this exhibition opening. The audience start off walking over to the drinks table, politeley stepping over these two bodies and then standing as far away from them as possible. Then someone in the audience is asked if they would like the same to be done to them. One person says yes, then another, until there are alot of people on the floor, hogtied, and, others, drink in hand, happily chatting to the bound people. The show has finally achieved its eponymous ease. | |
